Which house paint brand is best? An honest guide to what to check before you pay
We won't tell you which brand is best. We'll show you how to tell which brand is best for your home, and say honestly who Voqe suits.

Which house paint brand is best depends on your home and your budget. The criteria to check are the type of paint, such as 100% acrylic; the VOC level and Green Label; the price per square metre, not the price per can; the number of shades and whether there are sample pots; and after-sales service. Voqe suits people who want a 100% acrylic paint with little odour, a fine choice of shades, and the chance to try every shade before buying.
Which paint brand is best? Start by asking what your home needs
Asking which paint brand is best is like asking which khao man gai (Thai chicken rice) stall is the tastiest: the answer depends on whether you like boiled or fried chicken. Paint is the same. A child's bedroom, an exterior wall in sun all day, and a condo you want to restyle quickly all need different things.
This article won't decide for you. Instead, it gives you criteria you can use to compare every brand, Voqe included.

7 criteria for choosing house paint
Read the label the way you'd read the ingredients on a snack. However good the advertising, it matters less than the information on the can.
- Paint type: 100% acrylic or a blend; check the label or the product data sheet
- VOC and odour: look for the Green Label or low-VOC information, especially for bedrooms and children's rooms
- Use: interior, exterior, or both
- Coverage: how many square metres per gallon per coat, which you use to work out the real price
- Sheen: matt, Eggshell or Semi gloss suit different rooms
- Shades and samples: is there enough choice, and can you try it on the real wall first?
- Service: is there someone to advise you, are there painters, is there a showroom to see real colours?

Look at the price per square metre, not the price per can
A cheaper can may cost more once it's on the wall if it takes more coats to cover. The fair way to compare is to divide the price by the area it covers per coat.
Take Voqe Wall Paint as an example: a 3.785L gallon at ฿1,299 covers 35–40 square metres per coat, which works out at around ฿32–37 per square metre per coat. Buy the 18L can at ฿3,990 and it drops to around ฿21–24 per square metre per coat. Use the same method for every brand you're considering.

Don't trust colour on a screen; always test on the wall first
The colour on a screen never matches the colour on a wall. The light in a north-facing condo and a townhouse that gets afternoon sun can make the same colour look like two different ones. A brand that sells samples for you to try first saves you from repainting.
If you're comparing several brands, buy a sample from each, paint patches of the same size on the same wall, and look at them both by day and at night. It's the fairest way.

Who Voqe suits, and who it may not
Voqe Wall Paint is 100% acrylic, low VOC and low odour, for interior and exterior use, in 75 shades, plus another 38 shades of Mineral Finish. Every shade comes in a 100ml sample pot for ฿75. It is made by Dyno Paints, which has been making paint for around 40 years, at its factory in Bang Phli, with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and the Green Label.
Voqe suits people who want to choose a shade with care, want to try before they buy, and want free colour advice on LINE or at Voqe Studio (Bang Phli). If all you need is the cheapest large can of white for a development project, there may be other options that fit better, and we think that's fine.

“Not every colour, just the right one. And not every brand, just the one that's right for your home.”
